About
‘RSJ is jewellery for those who refuse the ordinary. Always textured, one-of-a-kind and unconventional.’
I’m Rachel, an independent jeweller living in the East Sussex countryside, UK.
I design and create jewellery full-time, in between looking after my young daughter, who has a range of medical needs. After she was born we spent a long time in hospital, where I was trained by nurses and doctors to help care for her. This practical training inspired me to use my hands in a different way, leading me to enrol on a short course at North Laine Jewellery School in Brighton, starting me on my journey to creating the jewellery that I love.
With a lot of practice and support, I officially launched RSJ in Spring, 2023.
All of my jewellery is designed and made in my solar-powered workshop in the South East of England. I produce dramatic, colourful handmade pieces, incorporating texture and asymmetry. Inspired by Brutalist & Modernist jewellery design, the pieces I create are a bold manifestation of my personal tastes and expression. Particularly drawing on my interests in folklore and psychedelia.
Working in wax, I use a mixture of techniques and tools to create abstract shapes and finishes to make something I call “unrepeatable”. Everything I produce is unique, bespoke and one-of-a-kind. Read more about my making process here.
